1 year. 6 venues. Over 1800 people in attendance. And a partridge in a pear tree.
Something Funny began as Comedy with Balls – a monthly show in the Kennebecasis Valley which took place at the KV Billiards performance space in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. Producers Didi Lombard Lloyd and Mark Burnett have expanded their offering to include booking of comedians for corporate events, producing CWB branded on-tour shows and have established a comedy circuit throughout the Atlantic provinces. That circuit has played host to comedians the likes of Ali Hassan, Garrett Clark, Mark Little, Chris Locke, Tom Henry and some of the writers from This Hour Has 22 Minutes – Heidi Brander, Matt Wright, Bob Kerr and Adam Christie.
“The idea of bringing stand up comedy to New Brunswick really appealed to me.”, Didi stated. “I’ve always been a self proclaimed stand up comedy junkie, so when Mark approached me with the idea, I was all in and haven’t looked back! I take a lot of pleasure in the fact that I can be a part of bringing some laughter into people’s lives.”
Something Funny shows feature the very best amateur and professional Comedians from Atlantic Canada and beyond. Currently, Mark and Didi are producing their second season of Comedy with Balls shows at KV Billiards. For tickets and info for those shows, please click here.
After producing shows for CBC Radio’s Laugh out Loud program and James Mullinger’s Comedy Bootcamp, Burnett and Lloyd don’t plan to slow down. Their first comedy festival has been announced and will take place on November 3rd and 4th, 2017. Tickets, venue and performer info will be released soon.
