Six New Brunswick Comedians to Receive National Airtime
New Brunswick comedians James Mullinger, Ansar Hassan, Jimmy MacKinley, Matt Richardson, Darren Elmore and adopted Saint Johner Garrett Clark will receive national airtime on CBC’s Laugh out Loud program to over one million listeners on CBC Radio One, SiriusXM and iTunes.
Normally reserved for larger centers, the Laugh out Loud team have selected the Saint John area, specifically Quispamsis, as the location for their next live taping of the show. At KV Billiards on November 17th, these six will perform for a live audience.
Their sets will be recorded and broadcast nationwide within the next few months.
Mark Burnett, Co-Owner of Something Funny Inc. – the production company which is promoting and producing the live show – is thrilled that the province of New Brunswick was selected. “The fact that Laugh out Loud chose to bring the show to our province and record our comedians says a lot about the level of talent we have here. For them to skip over both Montreal and St. John’s, Newfoundland says even more. We’re making things happen here and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this.”
The show’s host Ali Hassan is looking forward to the recording. He said, “Laugh out Loud prides itself on recording talented local performers in thriving comedy markets across Canada. Saint John is exactly that type of market, and KV Billiards – a venue that respects comedy and artists – is a great venue for this upcoming live recording.” Hassan added “We are excited to introduce the country and our international listeners to some of the talented performers of Saint John!”.
In the second episode of the Comedy East Podcast, Mark talks with Sussex comedian Darren Elmore about mental illness, performing abroad and their mutual friend Lloyd Ravn. Stay tuned until the end of the episode where sets and interviews by Jimmy MacKinley, Cory Hartlen, Shane Ogden and James Mullinger are featured from the Lloyd Ravn memorial show.
