New Brunswick comedians James Mullinger, Ansar Hassan, Jimmy MacKinley, Matt Richardson, Darren Elmore and adopted Saint Johner Garrett Clark will receive national airtime on CBC’s Laugh out Loud program to over one million listeners on CBC Radio One, SiriusXM and iTunes.

Normally reserved for larger centers, the Laugh out Loud team have selected the Saint John area, specifically Quispamsis, as the location for their next live taping of the show. At KV Billiards on November 17th, these six will perform for a live audience.
Their sets will be recorded and broadcast nationwide within the next few months.

Mark Burnett, Co-Owner of Something Funny Inc. – the production company which is promoting and producing the live show – is thrilled that the province of New Brunswick was selected. “The fact that Laugh out Loud chose to bring the show to our province and record our comedians says a lot about the level of talent we have here. For them to skip over both Montreal and St. John’s, Newfoundland says even more. We’re making things happen here and I couldn’t be more excited to be part of this.”

The show’s host Ali Hassan is looking forward to the recording. He said, “Laugh out Loud prides itself on recording talented local performers in thriving comedy markets across Canada. Saint John is exactly that type of market, and KV Billiards – a venue that respects comedy and artists – is a great venue for this upcoming live recording.” Hassan added “We are excited to introduce the country and our international listeners to some of the talented performers of Saint John!”.

British comedy sensation, James Mullinger headlines in Mactaquac (Yes! Mactaquac!) at MOCO Kitchen, October 22, 2016! Featuring Moncton’s Marty-d and Saint John’s Dan McCarthy.

James Mullinger was one of the hardest working stand ups in the UK as well as the Comedy Editor for GQ Magazine. Since moving to Canada in February 2014 he has been nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Live Solo Show and a Just For Laughs Award for Best Comedy Show.

That movie debuted at the Just for Laughs festival in Montreal this summer and will be playing at select theatres throughout the UK later this year.

On April 28, 2016, James sold out Harbour Station in Saint John, outselling Jerry Seinfeld, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard and Jeff Dunham! That show was filmed for television. Can’t Stop Us Now

We’ve had some hugely successful shows since I had the chance to write here last. December 5th we had Mark Splude light the place on fire, bringing his brand of brash humour to the stage. Holy shit, there’s a video!

On January 2nd, we added a new presenting sponsor in Saint John Hyundai. Thank you for your support. We love your cars!

We also added in a special surprise headliner. After Jimmy MacKinley ripped the place apart, James Mullinger took the stage by storm. Wait a minute, here’s another video!

Thank you to everyone who bought tickets and came out to the last two shows. Our audiences continue to grow in the valley and we love you for it.

Didi and I are really looking forward to February 6th when Moncton comic, Neal Mundle headlines. Details are here.

Selling out… in a good way.

What a wild month it’s been! We launched this thing on November 7th and had an incredibly successful first show, selling out the venue (120 people) in just under 20 minutes. It’s confirmation to Didi and I that our idea for a comedy club in the Kennebecasis Valley was a valid one and tells us that the people that live here love to laugh.

Thank you to everyone who came out to our first show and those who bought tickets and enjoyed our special presentation, the Chris Tom Mark Tour, featuring Chris Locke, Tom Henry, Mark Little and local host Darren Elmore on November 20th. Find photos from the Chris Tom Mark Tour by clicking here.

Our next show is on December 5th and we would love to see you there! The headliner for the show will be none other than the Spawn of Saint John and regular contributor on Rock 88.9, Mark Splude. Trevor Muxworthy, Vince Hoben and Arif Hussain will also perform as well as newcomer Brad McLaughlin. Comedy with Balls alum, Dan McCarthy will host that evening. For more details on the December 5th show, click here.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you out soon, KV!

– Mark
