Balls Pride presents Montreal comedian Tranna Wintour in support of Fredericton Pride! Tickets are available online by clicking here or by calling/texting Didi at 506-721-3782.
Tranna Wintour is an optimistic, spiritual, happy, raunchy, pop-culture-obsessed, fashion-hungry comedienne. She made her comedy debut at an open mic at the MontrealComedyWorks, and since that fateful moment the lady has been unstoppable. With her unique brand of humour (and glamour!) Tranna has taken the comedy scene by storm.
She most recently performed her one-woman show at New York City’s legendary Duplex to a packed and adoring house. She has performed in many festivals including Just For Laughs, SheDot, Zoofest, LadyFest, Pride Toronto, Montreal Sketch Fest, Divers/Cité, and performed her one-woman show, TRANTASY, to rave reviews in the Montreal Fringe Festival(2015). She was selected as a competitor in Sirius XM’s Top Comic contest for two years running. Tranna has also made a name for herself on the burlesque scene, acting as MC for many of Montreal’s most fabulous burlesque troops. This summer Tranna, alongside her wonderful co-producer and co-host, Thomas Leblanc, will take the Just For Laughs Festival by storm with “Sainte Celine: A Dion Cabaret.”
Tranna’s work has received the attention of international publications: she’s been profiled in The Daily Front Row (New York City’s official Fashion Week magazine), the UK’s Daily Telegraph, and the Montreal Gazette, which named her one of the city’s 20 hottest Montrealers. She has graced the cover of CultMTL and was ranked the second best comedian in their Best of Montreal poll (she’s placed consistently in the top 3 for the last 3 years) . Tranna has been described by legendary comedienne, Sandra Bernhard, as “a candle in the window on a cold, dark winter’s night.” And Tranna shines that light wherever she performs.
Chanel Freire (Halifax)
Chanel Freire was raised in Saint John, New Brunswick; a town where dreams corrode in the sulphuric seabreeze. Her ill advised and recklessly hopeful dream of being a comic led her to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 2011 where she quickly established herself as a singular comedic supernova and local crowd favorite.
At turns cynical and inflammatory, but adept at switching between sweetly self-deprecating and sublimely silly on a dime, Chanel always leaves her transformed audience picking at the stitches in their sides and sends them off with food for thought in a tin foil swan for the ride home.
Darren Elmore (Sussex)
Darren is one of the organizers of the show on August 13th. He started performing stand up comedy nine years ago in Vancouver and has performed extensively throughout Vancouver, San Francisco and Seattle. He has opened for the likes of James Mullinger, Nikki Payne, 2015 Sirius XM’s Top Comic Derek Seguin, among others. He is currently residing in Sussex and was recently a contestant on James Mullinger’s Comedy Boot Camp on Bell Aliant TV1.
Brittany Campbell (Charlottetown)
Brittany has always had an interest in public speaking and took the stage doing stand up comedy in December 2014 in PEI. You wouldn’t be able to tell from her material but she also teaches youth in her spare time. They say people from small towns have big hearts and are quite polite. Brittany is planning to prove those people wrong.
Mark Burnett (Quispamsis)
If the name looks familiar, look up a little further. Mark is one of the creators and producer of Comedy with Balls and is thrilled to be hosting this show. Owning a comedy club was always a dream of Mark’s and now he gets to pretend that his dream has come true, maybe.
He has opened for the likes of James Mullinger, Glen K. Amo and Neal Mundle, has performed at Saint John’s Harvesting the Arts Festival and was a finalist on James Mullinger’s Comedy Boot Camp on Bell Aliant TV1. You can follow him on Twitter @burnettisms.
